Although all 32 competing teams in the World Cup 2018 have until the 4th of June to announce their final 23-man squads, many countries are already announcing their line-up. Senegal coach Aliou Cisse announced which players he will be taking to Russia earlier this week, and from this we can make some guesses at which may make the starting eleven.
The 23 players travelling to Russia with the Senegalese international team are as follows:
- Abdoulaye Diallo, Alfred Gomis, Khadim Ndiaye, Lamine Gassama, Saliou Ciss, Kalidou Koulibaly, Kara Mbodii, Youssouf Sabaly, Salif Sane, Moussa Wague, Idrissa Gueye, Cheikhou Kouyate, Alfred Ndiaye, Badou Ndiaye, Cheikh Ndoye, Ismaila Sarr, Keita Balde, Mame Biram Diouf, Moussa Konate, Sadio Mane, Mbaye Niang, Diafra Sakho, Moussa Sow
Senegal’s first match of the World Cup 2018 tournament will be against Poland on the 19th June, and they’ll have to put an excellent team out if they want to be in with a chance of advancing through to the round of 16.
To predict who will make the starting eleven, we’ve looked at which players have performed well at league level this year, and which could be instrumental in Senegal’s success this World Cup.
Liverpool’s Sadio Mane will be going to Russia after competing in the Champions League final, and so it’s more than likely he will make the starting eleven. We also think Everton’s Idrissa Gueue and Napoli’s Kalidou Koulibaly will make the team, and we’ll be keeping our eyes out for strker Keita Balde, who has racked up 8 goals for his club, Monaco, this season.
