Germany v South Korea will take place on the 27th June in Kazan in the Kazan Arena. Germany will be firmly confident that they have the quality to beat South Korea comfortably. This game is a bit of a mis-match really and if South Korea get anything from it they will have done extremely well.
South Korea are the big underdogs in Group F. South Korea’s first match is against Sweden on the 18th June, and this is the one which South Korea may get something from. Mexico will be tough opponents and we feel Mexico will win this match. Germany are an even tougher proposition and, in all likelihood,, there can be only one outcome; a comfortable Germany win.
South Korea V Germany World Cup History
It may come as a bit of a surprise that four-time World Cup winners and holders Germany have faced South Korea twice before at the World Cup. In 1994, they faced each other in the group stage and Germany won that match 3-2. Germany legend Jurgen Klinsmann scored a stupendous opener in this match which is well worth a look.
In 2002 South Korea hosted the World Cup along with Japan and thanks in part to some rather dubious refereeing, they made it to the semi-finals. They faced Germany in the semi-finals and lost 1-0 thanks to a Michael Ballack goal. Germany lost the final 2-0 to Brazil.
South Korea V Germany World Cup 2018
If Germany manage to beat Mexico and Sweden in their first two matches, which most expect them to, they will already have qualified by the time this game kicks off. Still, you would not expect Germany’s intensity in their final game to drop significantly and we fully expect them to be victorious in this match.
South Korea do have some very good players in their squad such as captain Ki Sung-yueng and Tottenham Hotspur forward Son Heung-min. Son particularly might cause the German defence some problems, particularly if Germany rest some players.
Still, even Germany’s second team is far superior to South Korea’s and we just cannot see South Korea getting anything from the match. Anything other than a Germany win would be a huge surprise.
