With the quarter-finals of the World Cup 2018 done and dusted, there's now only two matches between four teams and their chances of victory.
Two of these teams are France and Brazil, who will meet in the first semi-final of the competition on the 10th of July in Saint Petersburg.
Brazil have reached this stage in the competition by beating a solid Belgium team in the quarter-finals, whilst France took on and saw off Uruguay in the same round.
Both teams will be entering this match with a stream of triumphs behind them, and both have displayed excellent footballing ability so far. That being said, whilst the match does look likely to be close, Brazil are still the current favourites to win.
In today's article we'll take a closer look at this semi-final match, and weighing up each team's chances of success. We'll be discussing:
- Each team's recent performances and World Cup 2018 record so far
- Who the bookies are backing to win this match
- Which odds will be most valuable and lucrative
- Expert predictions on the match
Betting Tips for France vs Brazil
As we've just mentioned, Brazil are the current favourites to win this match. This is mainly because they're still, and always have been, the favourites to win the competition on the whole.
Brazil's odds on winning the World Cup 2018 outright currently stand at around 5/2
France's odds on winning the World Cup 2018 outright currently stand at around 4/1
Although Brazil are the favourites to win this semi-final match against France, as you can see from the odds above, there's a good chance it will be a very close game.
This means that we not only think it's not worth going against the bookies, but we'd also advise you to check out each team's statistics before placing any bets.
Luckily for you, we've lined up all the facts and figures on each team's most recent performances below. What's more, these statistics will give you a understanding of some of the more specialized betting markets and how the game may play out.

Our Match Predictions for France vs Brazil
As we can see from the statistics above, both Brazil and France have good records in this year's World Cup.
In fact, both teams have only suffered one draw each throughout the competition. For France, this was at the hands of Denmark in the group stages and for Brazil it was against Switzerland, also in the group stages.
Brazil are yet to concede as many goals as France, as they performed excellently in their group stage and round of 16 match. This makes sense, however, as Brazil are generally considered one of the best teams in the World.
That being said, we would have expected them to fly through this competition problem free. Instead, they've suffered some minor set backs, such as only matching Switzerland on goals and taking until stoppage time to beat Costa Rica.
France, on the other hand, have been looking impressive throughout. Their round of sixteen match against Argentina is sure to go down as one of the most exciting matches in recent World Cup history, with teenager Kylian Mbappe putting on a formidable show.
France do, however, have some defensive weaknesses which Brazil could take full advantage of if they choose to play on the offense.
Specialised Betting Tips
As we've mentioned already, although Les Bleus are on good form, we don't think they will display the skill and speed needed to beat the Brazilians. This is why a bet backing the Brazilians to qualify for the final of the World Cup 2018 is definitely worth placing.
In contrast you could also place a bet on France to be eliminated in the semi-finals (which is basically the same as backing France). These odds currently stand at around 13/8 and therefore are notably lucrative.
As the match draws closer, we'd also advise you to explore other specialized markets such as score-cast bets and winning margins. Below we've listed some of our favourite wagers you may want to explore ahead of this semi-final game.

Who Will Score For France?
At just 19 years of age, Kylian Mbappe is already one of the breakout stars of this World Cup.
The PSG striker performed incredibly in France's round of sixteen match against Argentina, playing a huge part in three of the four goals France scored. We expect Deschamps to play Mbappe in this semi-final match and, if he's on the pitch, he's very likely to score.
Expected France Line-Up:
France manager Didier Deschamps has sent a similar starting 11 on for the majority of his World Cup 2018 matches and therefore we can expect a very similar lineup for this game against Brazil.
Defenders: Pavard, Varane, Umtiti, Herenandez
Midfielders: Pogba, Kante, Dembele
Forwards: Greizmann, Mbappe, Giroud
Who Will Score For Brazil?
Neymar has already played in every one of Brazil's matches this World Cup and he's been impressive in all of them. Neymar entered the World Cup 2018 with his sights firmly set on a Golden Boot prize.
Although this hasn't paid off so far, he has scored two goals already for his team. This brings his Word Cup goal scoring total up to 6, as he scored four in the 2014 competition, and so it's very likely he will score again in the semis.
Expected Brazil Line-Up:
Brazil manager Tite is known for sticking to his guns at all costs and therefore we can expect him to play a similar starting eleven to those he has selected in previous matches.
Defenders: Marcelo, Miranda, T. Silva, Fagner
Midfielders: Coutinho, Casemiro, Paulinho
Forwards: Neymar, Willian, G. Jesus
Will There Be A Penalty or Red Cards?
It's very likely that a penalty will be awarded in this semi-final match, as both the referees and the players will be committed to making sure each team has a fair shot of progressing.
For the referees this may mean consulting the VAR screens frequently, and for the players this means asking for the ref to consult the VAR screens frequently!
Although yellow cards and penalties are likely in this match, we do think a straight red is very unlikely. This is because all of the players will be aware that a sending off at this stage means they cannot compete in the final.
