Betting Tips for Croatia vs Denmark

As we've just mentioned, Croatia are the current favourites to win this match, and in our expert opinion, we think this is the most probable outcome. Here's how the current average odds are looking ahead of the game:

  • Croatia to Win Within 90 Mins: 10/11
  • Denmark to Win Within 90 Mins: 18/5
  • Draw (Before Extra-Time and Penalties): 21/10

Whilst this match isn't as certain as others in the World Cup 2018, we think it would be unwise to go against the bookies here. As you can see in the stats mentioned below, Croatia have been performing spectacularly well recently and are more than expected to overpower the Danes.

Of course, if you do decide to back Croatia to win, there's no value in that wager. Instead, we'd look at more specialised bets such as predicting the score or who may score. Read on to find out more betting tips about these markets.

As the group stages of the World Cup 2018 draw to a close, we can now write this week off as a tense and tough time for many footballing fans worldwide. There have been some shocking surprises, some joyous moments and some teary eyed fans, but it's now onto the Round of 16 where things are sure to get even more heated.

The Round of 16 knock-out stage of then World Cup 2018 begins on Saturday the 30th of June and just a day later, Croatia will meet Denmark to see who will progress to the quarter-finals.

Our Match Predictions for Spain vs Russia

As the statistics above show, Croatia managed to win all three of their groups stage matches in the World Cup 2018, and therefore finished in top position with maximum points. This was a tricky group to win too, with many people dubbing it the ‘Group of Death'. The biggest challenge here was to beat the formidable Argentina, which Croatia did with ease.

What's more, Croatia have scored seven goals in their three group stage matches, and conceeded just one. They go into this game unbeaten since managed Zlatko Dalic took over towards the end of their qualification campaign. This strong performance is why they're a team worth taking seriously and not just an underdog anymore.

All this being said, Denmark should still be seen as stern competition for the Croats. The Danes haven't lost a single match since 2016, yet their recent performances could be deemed as uninspiring. Two draws and one win meant they finished their group stage in second place, just 2 points behind France.

Specialized Betting Tips

As we mentioned at the start of this article, in our expert opinion, going against the bookies in this match would be a risky wager to make. We believe that Croatia will win the game which means if you want to place a wager with value, you need to look into more specialized bets. There are many UK bookmakers already offering some compelling, and lucrative, betting options on this match.

Whilst Denmark have been a bit lacklustre in the tournament so far, we think that they will be feeling the pressure in their match against Croatia. Both teams' strikers will be pushing to score as many goals as possible and this is why we think the odds of both teams scoring, which stand at around 13/10, look very appealing.

In addition, whilst we're backing Croatia to win, we think they may struggle to rack up as many goals as they have done recently. This is why we think a 2-0 or 1-0 win is likely. We think it may also go right to the wire, and we would back Croatia to score in the second half.

Here are some of our other favourite wagers to back on this match:

  • Croatia to Win by One Goal: 23/10
  • Croatia to Win by Two Goals: 4/1
  • Croatia to Win to Nil: 13/8
  • Croatia to Win 2-0: 11/2
  • HT Draw/FT Croatia: 10/3
  • Both Teams to Score: 13/10

Who will Score For Croatia?

  • Ivan Perišić – Ivan Perišić scored his first goal in the World Cup 2018 for Croatia in their last match against Iceland, and so a repeat is definitely likely. Perišić also scored two goals for the team in their qualifying campaign, and walked away from the Euros 2016 with two goals for his national team too.

Odds on Perišić as Anytime Goalscorer: 13/5

  • Luka Modrić – It's looking very likely that Luka Modric will play against Denmark, and if so, it's also very likely he'll score. Modric has already scored two goals in the World Cup 2018 so far, and he is considered to be one of the best midfielders in the competition. If Modric does play in this match, he will also be equal with Darijo Srna as the Croatian player  with most appearances at major tournaments (18). This goes to show how invaluable he is to the team.

Odds on Modrić as Anytime Goalscorer: 3/1

Expected Croatian Line-Up:

In their match against Denmark, it's likely that Croatia's manager Dalic will play a similar starting 11 to their match against Iceland. This lineup came out triumphant, and so changes would seem unnecessary.

Goalkeeper: Kalinić

Defenders: Pivarić, Ćaleta-Car, Ćorluka, Jedvaj

Midfielders: Kovačić, Modrić, Badelj

Forwards: Pjaca, Perišić, Kramarić

Who Will Score For Denmark?

  • Christian Eriksen – Eriksen is Denmark's golden boy, and it's very likely he will start in their match against Croatia. He is the only Danish player to have a shot on target so far at the World Cup 2018, and he has scored 13 goals and made 5 assists in his last 16 games for Denmark.

Odds on Eriksen as Anytime Goalscorer: 4/1

Expected Denmark Line-Up:

Against France, Denmark looked strong and therefore we don't believe their manager Åge Hareide will make many changes to his starting 11.

Goalkeeper: Schmeichel

Defenders: Dalsgaard, Larsen, Kjær, Jørgensen

Midfielders: Erkisen, Delaney, Christensen

Forwards: Braithwaite, Sisto, Cornelius

Will There Be a Penalty or Red Cards?

Whilst both teams are not notourisly hot headed or dirty, we do think a penalty in this match is almost inevitable. In the World Cup 2018 a record-breaking 22 penalities have been awarded so far. This increase is widely contributed to the use of VAR (Video Assistant Referee), with more and more tackles and contentions being taken to the screen.

We think it's unlikely to see any straight red card bookings handed out in this match between Croatia and Denmark, yet certain players will have to watch to not receive another yellow card.
Four Danish players have already received yellow cards in the World Cup 2018 (Delaney, M.Jørgensen, Sisto, Poulsen), as have five Croatian players (Rebić, Rakitić, Pjaca, Vrsaljko, Mandžukić).
