Nigeria squad in this World Cup 2018 is relatively young and much changed from the squad that reached the round of 16 back in 2014. However, they’ve done pretty well so far in their qualifications and seem more than ready for the real game starting this June.
Nigeria Squad Football — World Cup 2018
The 30-player squad includes some of the best footballers from Africa, as they have proven in the qualifications.
Their coach, the German Gernot Rohr, is also not new to coaching African teams. Before Nigeria, he has been the coach of Gabon, Burkina Faso and Niger national teams.
It seems that his experience has been yielding positive results ever since he started leading the team. Not only are they now stronger and qualified to the tournament, the team can be pretty dangerous thanks to the player line-up, including:
- Leon Balogun
- Victor Moses
- John Obi Mikel
The weak link in the team might be the goalkeeper if Carl Ikeme, their main goalkeeper, won’t make it to the tournament due to leukaemia. Even if this wasn’t the problem, Nigeria would probably not be ready to go very far, though they might still do better than ever before.
Nigeria squad for World Cup 2018 includes talented players and an experienced coach, but it’s probably not enough to create a miracle.
