Whilst all of the countries in the World Cup 2018 have until the 4th of June to announce their final 23-man World Cup line-ups, some managers and coaches have taken it upon themselves to reveal early argentina staring 11.
Argentina’s head coach, Jorge Sampaoli, announced his preliminary World Cup squad last week, picking 35 players who are in with a change of travelling to Russia. The provisional team is listed below:
- Sergio Romero, Wilfredo Caballero, Nahuel Guzman, Franco Armani, Gabriel Mercado, Cristian Ansaldi, Eduardo Salvio, Javier Mascherano, Nicolas Otamendi, German Pezzella, Federica Fazio, Marcos Rojo, Nicolas Tagliafico, Marcos Acuna, Ramiro Funes Mori, Manuel Lanzini, Leandro Paredes, Ricardo Centurion, Maximiliano Meza, Lucas Biglia, Guido Pizarro, Enzo Perez, Ever Banega, Giovani Lo Celso, Rodrigo Battaglia, Angel Di Maria, Cristian Pavon, Pablo Perez, Paulo Dybala, Diego Perotti, Lionel Messi , Sergio Aguero, Gonzalo Higuain, Mauro Icardi
Argentina will play their first match of the World Cup 2018 on the 16th of June against Iceland. This is when we will finally get to see the country’s starting eleven, but in the mean time we can make a few predictions.
Almost obviously, Lionel Messi will play. This could be the Barcelona superstar’s last World Cup and therefore he will be determined to leave (even more of) a legacy behind.
Aside from Messi, the Argentina squad is full of superstar players. This makes predicting who will make the starting eleven very difficult. What we can be certain of, however, is that Argentina are sure to give us an entertaining and spectacular show this summer.
