Will Quick-Step Floors Win Tour de France?

This is a tricky question, but we have a simple answer. If we’re talking about the team classification, then they probably won’t win. It’s a strong team with many young riders, but sometimes experience is needed instead.

Besides, not all of the members are flawless and this might be disadvantageous in some cases. This is definitely true for the team classification when counting the team’s overall time.

However, Quick-Step Floors might bring some other jerseys home instead. To explain this prediction, we’ll have to look at the team riders though.

Quick-Step Floors 3 Top Riders

Of all the members listed above, three stand out even further from the rest. Each one has a different reason for that, though. It’s time you got to know these top riders. Especially if you decided to gamble in Tour de France betting markets.

The three top riders of Quick Step Floors are:

  • Philippe Gilbert
  • Fernando Gaviria
  • Bob Jungels

Philippe Gilbert is a great puncher who can easily ride on wavy roads. And there will be many of those in Tour de France 2018. He has already proved his point before by winning many stages in all three major tours.

Fernando Gaviria is one of the top riders to win green jersey this year. Only Peter Sagan gets better gambling odds and he’s a five-time champion. Gaviria’s odds to win are at an incredible 7/2 ratio.

Bob Jungels is another young rider and an all-rounder. This Luxembourgian has performed incredibly in Giro d’Italia. Among his wins are two young rider classification wins in a row.

History Quick-Step Floors Cycling Team

It all began when riders and staff from two teams joined forces. Those teams were Domo-Farm Frites and Mapei-Quick Step. Success quickly came to the new outfit with legendary rider Paolo Bettini. Bettini won the 2003 UCI Road World Cup, which he retained a year later.

In 2005, rider Tom Boonen rose to fame. He won the UCI Road World Championships. Then, he led the points classification at the Tour De France in the second and third stages. In 2006, Boonen wore the yellow jersey during stages 3-6 in the Tour De France.

In 2007, Bettini defended his world championship crown. Tim Boonen won the points classification jersey at the Tour De France of 2007. This was a huge achievement for the Quick Step team.

A year later, Gert Steegmans won the final Tour De France stage along the Champs-Elysees.

In 2010, Sylvain Chavanel won stages 2 and 7 at the Tour De France. And 2013 was a very successful year for the team with UK rider Mark Cavendish performing particularly well. His successes included:

  • Wins in stages 5 and 13 at the Tour De France
  • Overall points classification victory at the Giro d’Italia
  • Yellow jersey in the Tour of Qatar

In 2014, Matteo Trentin won stage 7 of the Tour De France. Tony Martin won stages 9 and 20. In 2015, Tony Martin, Zdenek Stybar and Mark Cavendish won a few stages too. Marcel Kittel did the same a year later.

Last year, the Quick-Step team enjoyed some notable success as well. Marcel Kittel won five stages at Tour De France. Fernando Gaviria won four Giro d’Italia stages and the overall points classification.

Quick-Step Floors have successful riders in their ranks. That’s one of the main reasons why we predict them good results in Tour de France 2018.
