EF Education First-Drapac p/b Cannondale is an American team of professional road cycling. It belongs to UCI WorldTeams and is one of the teams participating in 2018 Tour de France stage race.
The team was created in 2003 and was called by a much easier name back then — 5280-Subaru. To make this reading easier, we’ll refer to the team by its official UCI abbreviation, which is EFD.
EFD is a team from the United States and has headquarters in Colorado. However, many of its members are not American. We’ll take a look at them just below.
Will Education First-Drapac Win Tour de France?
The short asnwer is no.
They simply don't have the cyclists to pull it off. For one, the team has never been at the top of the scoreboard before. So they aren't the most resourceful and won't improve out of nowhere.
On the other hand, their team has changed a lot recently. They might have improved a bit, but they're still far from perfect. With the current line-up, our cycling experts have difficulty imagining them at the top.
Even their leader Uran has only 25/1 odds of winning. And that's the best approximation.
EF Education First-Drapac p/b Cannondale Cycling Team Prediction
EFD currently has 25 members, many of which are not from the United States, as already mentioned. There was recently a lot of change in the team. Nine new riders joined the team and eleven old ones left it for another one this year.
Today, there are six Americans in the roster of EF Education First-Drapac p/b Cannondale. There are also four Australians and many others from different countries. These include Great Britain, Belgium, New Zealand, Colombia, Canada, Sweden, Denmark and more.
In other words, there’s a lot of diversity other here. Unfortunately, this doesn't make the team very good. We can’t say that EFD is among the favourite teams in Tour de France 2018.
Their achievements in other races this year aren’t inspiring either. There were only two stage wins recently in America and Europe tours by Rigoberto Uran and Sacha Modolo.
Still, let’s take a look at the competitors from this team in Tour de France 2018.
EF Education First-Drapac Cannondale in 2018 Tour de France
While they will need to send exactly eight racers to Tour de France, we only know four as of today. This is not surprising though because the teams don’t usually finalize their decisions until almost the beginning of the race.
We should expect to find out more by the beginning of July. As for now, here are the four cyclists that are already in the preliminary list.
- Rigoberto Uran (Colombia)
- Pierre Rolland (France)
- Taylor Phinney (United States)
- Sep Vanmarcke (Belgium)
These are all experienced professionals and each one is a specialist of a different type. This includes a climber, a time trial specialist and a classics specialist. It’s not a surprise to see Uran in this list too. He seems to be in shape to achieve his best result.
The Best EFD Rider To Bet On
Rigoberto Uran is your best bet. He’s undoubtedly the most promising rider in the team this year. In fact, we wouldn’t be surprised to see him in the top 10 in general classification after the stage 21 is over.
The stages of Tour de France 2018 are also what Uran has been preparing for. He is an all-rounder capable of great speed as well as having endurance for mountain stages.
EF Education First-Drapac p/b Cannondale, simply referred to as EF Education First-Drapac or EFD, is an American bicycle race team participating in this year’s Tour de France starting on 7 July.
