Mikel Landa Prediction 2018

The 2018 Tour De France route is very mountainous. This can only benefit a climber like Mikel Landa. Indeed, this year’s Tour offers Landa a very good chance for something significant. A stage win is very likely and something more is also a possibility.

After all, Mikel has won mountains classification in Giro d’Italia not long ago. He was also 4th in general classification of Tour de France last year.

He can totally do these kinds of achievements again, especially since the terrain is on his side. Being an exceptional climber, he can fly through even the toughest hills.

His odds are even greater in consideration to his team. Being one of the best teams this season, Movistar is significant. So Mikel Landa will compete for the polka dot jersey at least, according to our predictions.

Mikel Landa Odds for Winning Tour de France

Unsurprisingly, he has the best winning odds in the climbers’ classification. However, all the other odds in markets like the outright winner are amazing too. Just take a look:

Mikel Landa winner odds 7/1 to 10/1

Mikel Landa king of the mountains odds 4/1 to 5/1

The betting odds may change, but bookies clearly favour Landa. We’ll have to wait and see whether he lives up to the fans’ and cycling experts’ expectations.

As for our opinion, we’re sure that polka dot jersey market is the most lucrative in this case. That’s despite the fact that other markets offer better odds.

Mikel Landa 2018 Tour De France

In 2017, Landa signed a contract with Movistar. He began racing for the team at the start of the current season. This season he has:

  • Won stage 4 of the Tirreno-Adriatico
  • Finished second overall at the Tour of the Basque Country

Landa believes that Movistar have one of the strongest teams heading into the Tour De France today. According to him:

“It could be that Movistar will be the strongest at the Tour this year”.

They have Alejandro Valverde and Nairo Quintana in their ranks. So we can’t help but agree with Mikel Landa on this one.

Landa is confident of breaking Team Sky’s dominance at the Tour De France. He believes that Froome’s Giro d’Italia win earlier this year could hamper his Tour de France efforts.

The Tour De France begins on 7 July and ends on 29 July.

Career Of Mikel Landa Meana

Landa spent the first few years of his career riding in his native Basque country. The real turning point came when he moved to Astana in 2014. The Spaniard began his time with Astana with a stage win at the 2014 Giro del Trentino.

Landa was a domestique for Fabio Aru during his time with Astana. Aru finished third in the 2014 Giro d’Italia, thanks in large part to Landa’s domestique work.

In the 2015 Giro d’Italia, Landa again rode as a domestique for Aru. However, Landa also rode as an individual too. He won two mountain stages at the Giro d’Italia 2015.

In the 2015 Vuelta a Espana Landa won stage 11 of the race. He also helped Aru to overall victory at the Vuelta. Afterwards, Landa signed a contract in September of 2015 with Team Sky. He began to race for them at the start of the 2016 season.

Landa’s first season with Team Sky was a rather mixed affair. He suffered from a few bouts of illnesses, but also churned out some very good performances.

In the 2016 Tour of the Basque Country, Landa took the second stage. He was victorious in the overall classification and took green mountain jersey in the Giro del Trentino.

Landa was hopeful of a leading performance at the Giro d’Italia too. However, illness struck forcing him to retire from the Giro d’Italia during stage 10.

Landa rode as mountain domestique for Chris Froome in the 2016 Tour De France. He helped Froome to his third Tour De France victory this way.

In the 2017 Tour De France Landa again rode as mountain domestique for Froome. Landa helped Froome retain his Tour De France title again. Mikel Landa himself finished fourth overall in the Tour De France as well.

Landa enjoyed success at the Vuelta a Burgos in the same year. There, he won the overall points classification, the mountains classification and two stages. Landa also topped the mountains classification at Giro d’Italia, capping off a great year.

Mikel Landa could perform very well in Tour de France 2018. His odds are the best with the mountains classification, but he could also compete for the yellow jersey too.
